Kayaking
The
close proximity of five major islands to the town of Loreto
make it an excellent jumping off place from which to embark
on day kayak trips or multi-day excursions. Hundreds of
miles of pristine shorelines with coves and secluded beaches
await the adventure seekers who wish to immerse themselves
in the beauty of Baja from the seat of a kayak. The weather
is most favorable between the months of October to June.
December thru February can be windy and cold so prepare
accordingly. The Summer months from July thru September
are generally very hot with temperatures over 100 degrees
F. This period can also be tricky as "chubascos", the notorious
powerful hurricanes of the Sea of Cortez, can form quickly
and without warning. Loreto is a favorite kayaking destination
and offers several experienced outfitters that can accommodate
most any request including equipment rentals.
